Goodnight Boys

Goodnight Boys

In Goodnight boys I contend with the most primal maternal fear, fear of the loss of a child.  In becoming a mother, a new level of anxiety and fear was introduced into my life, one I could not previously imagine.  The potential loss of a child is a possibility that accompanies motherhood to varying degrees throughout and that loss, if experienced re-shapes everything.

These images were taken while on a skiing holiday, separating from my children every morning and going in our separate groups, to enjoy the slopes while at the same time, at the back of my mind always being conscious of the dangers involved and the possibility of their serious injury or death.
